Let's Connect

Great products begin with a deep understanding of people's goals, constraints, and lived experiences. For over a decade, I've worked across UX, engineering, and product roles, learning how thoughtful collaboration and technical awareness turn complex problems into intuitive, repeatable solutions. I care about building products with empathy, clarity, and intention, and about working with teams who push each other to do their best work.

Dex

Product & UX Lead

A three-month freelance engagement at the earliest stage of a 0→1 AI recruitment startup. Shaped conversation design for an AI recruiting agent, explored multi-modal interaction patterns across voice, chat, and structured input, and ran moderated research with candidates. Developed a lean prototyping strategy, defined a deliberately manual MVP, and helped reshape the investor pitch from sprawling ambition to a fundable narrative — contributing to a $3.1M pre-seed raise.

Web Developer

A social media marketing platform that was acquired by Google for $450M in 2012. Built core product features including user account management, publishing and permissions workflows, activity audit logging, and message scheduling — as well as an internal developer UI toolkit. Working across Ruby on Rails, Angular, and Bootstrap, this role was the start of a 12-year journey that would eventually take me deep into Google's product ecosystem.

About Shane

Having been surrounded by technology from a young age, I taught myself to build web and desktop applications long before I knew it would become a career. That same curiosity has driven everything since — with over a decade at Google leading UX Engineering, now progressing into a career-driven move toward Product Management, where I get to build a deep understanding of user needs and convert that into business results.

I'm currently enrolled on a Product Management career accelerator with King's College London, deepening my practice in product strategy, discovery, and data-informed decision making.

Outside of work, I recently qualified as a private pilot, gaining my PPL in the summer of 2025. I've already flown to France and the Isle of Wight — where I happened to fly overhead the Red Arrows routing back along the coast. I follow Formula 1 closely, drawn less to the spectacle and more to what the sport reveals about high performance, cross-functional collaboration, and real-time decision-making under pressure.

At home, I live a fairly simple life just outside of London with my partner and two golden retrievers. I grow my own fruit and vegetables — at home and on the allotment — and enjoy cooking most evenings.

I root for the underdog. I care about mentoring and opening doors for people of all abilities, and I'm drawn to work that has genuine social impact alongside commercial ambition.
